Because Jonah was afraid to participate in God’s mission, he now found himself in a helpless and hopeless situation. It was in this moment of brokenness that he repented of his disobedience and called upon the Lord for rescue. God heard Jonah’s prayer and responded by saving him. It’s often only when we come to the end of ourselves that we’re ready to ask God for help, and thankfully, we find Him faithful and willing.
