Racial Unity Campus Initiative - Progress and Planning
Humans are the pinnacle of God's creation, and the opening narrative of scripture reveals that all people are created in the image of God. Every man, woman, and child on the planet has intrinsic worth and value and is deserving of dignity and respect. God's original intent was to create a people that would live in harmony with Himself and each other. We know that sin has affected our ability to be in a proper relationship with God, and it impacts our ability to see the image of God in other people. One of the major ways this plays out in our world is the lack of unity among people from different backgrounds, particularly the lack of understanding and appreciation for people from different races. However, scripture concludes in the book of Revelation where God reveals that He will ultimately redeem all that is wrong with our world and will still gather a people unto Himself for the purpose of being in relationship with us. That group of people--the family of God--will be from every tribe, every tongue, every race, every nation, every socio-economic status, etc. Therefore, we want to help usher that future reality into our present lives on earth as it is in heaven. We will host quarterly Racial Unity progress and planning meetings that are intended to create an ongoing space and environment where this is kept in front of our congregation, and where members can be encouraged, equipped, and remain informed.
